This is the first stage of our public consultation on the proposed relocation of Aston Cricket Club.
We are excited to announce a proposed new chapter for Aston Cricket Club. Over the past 20 years, housing developments around our boundary have resulted in our ground being deemed too small for senior cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Circumstances have forced our hand and to ensure the club’s future, we are developing a strategic plan that includes potential relocation, partnerships, and community involvement.
Our dedication to the community remains strong, and we aim to continue serving our members, local residents, and the broader community for many years to come. Although our current site has served us well, moving to a new state-of-the-art facility is necessary for our future, ensuring that our club continues to thrive.
Financially, the club cannot afford new facilities without the development of residential dwellings on our existing pitch. This development will cross-fund our new facilities, with any surplus allocated to cover unforeseen costs during the transition. To achieve this, Aston Cricket Club is working with Muller Property Group on two proposals, which will each require planning approval.
Aston Cricket Club Relocation Site: 2.06ha (5.1 acres)
The proposed relocation site will offer modern facilities, including improved pitches, training areas, and a clubhouse providing better access and opportunities for community events and local engagement that caters to all age groups and abilities.
The current Aston Cricket Club Site: 1.23ha (3.03 acres)
The proposed new residential development will provide up to 43 new dwellings designed around a community green, bringing a mix of much-needed housing types to the area that cater for people at all stages of life, whilst ensuring the financial viability of the relocation.
Before planning applications are submitted, we are keen to get your thoughts on the proposals. We appreciate your understanding and support as we embark on this significant journey to ensure the enduring success and sustainability of Aston Cricket Club.
